I just had time to visit the Palm Springs Air Museum today. Lots of WWII planes in flying condition stored in clean air-conditioned hangars. I spent a lot of time looking at the planes and reading about them.
They have a B-17 Flying Fortress that is really impressive. Very simple, very rugged, and probably completely terrifying to fly and fight in.
